Paddy and sugarcane fields will befriend you through Maddur and Mandya and the jaggery production is primary livelihood around here in Maddur and Mandy surrounds. Barachukki and Gaganachukki are two waterfalls situated near the island town of Shivanasamudra in the Mandya district of Karnataka.
The waterfalls are created by river Cauvery that runs down a 75 metre gorge before it divides into two branches that flow around the island of Shivanasamudra. The two branches (eastern & western branches) flow through deep ravines on either side of the island before plunging in two different places a few kilometres apart to form the Barachukki and Gaganachukki waterfalls.
Mandya is a land of rice and has several tourist attractions like Brindavan Gardens, Ranganthittu bird sanctuary, Tonnur Lake, and the temple town of Melkote.
The Brindavan Gardens is a garden located in the Mandya District of the Indian State of Karnataka. It lies adjoining the Krishnarajasagara Dam which is built across the river Kaveri. The work on laying out this garden was started in the year 1927 and completed in 1932. Visited by close to 2 million tourists per year, the garden is one of the major attractions of Srirangapatna. Sir Mirza Ismail, the Deewan of Mysore, a man with a penchant for gardens, founded the Brindavan Gardens and built the Cauvery River high-level canal to irrigate 120,000 acres in modern Mandya district. He was inspired by Hyder Ali who had earlier built the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens at Bangalore.

There is lot to see in this small historical, religious, and cultural town of Srirangapatna. The center attraction for tourists here is the famous Ranganathaswamy temple. It is one of the most important pilgrimage centers. Also, you could visit to the Srirangapatna Fort, Garrison Cemetery, and Bailey’s Dungeon to experience a little bit of British history.
