📍 Speciality & significance
Maharashtra holds five of the twelve Jyotirlingas — more than any other state — including Trimbakeshwar near the source of the Godavari, Bhimashankar in the Sahyadri forests, and Grishneshwar beside the Ellora caves. Completing them is a cherished goal for Shaiva pilgrims.
The circuit is traditionally combined with Shirdi, the samadhi shrine of Sai Baba and one of India's most-visited pilgrimage towns, and Shani Shingnapur, the open-air Saturn shrine famous for a village that keeps no doors — a rich blend of Jyotirlinga, sant and graha worship.
