Varanasi (Kashi), among the oldest living cities on earth, centres on the Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga and the redeveloped Vishwanath Corridor, with the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and the Buddhist site of Sarnath nearby — the spiritual capital of Hindu India.
The corridor adds Ayodhya, the Ram Janmabhoomi with its new Ram Mandir and Hanuman Garhi, and Prayagraj, where the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati meet at the Triveni Sangam — the site of the Kumbh Mela — completing one of the most significant pilgrimages in the north.
